Don’t get me wrong, I like Obama. But to get a peace prize? For what? As the Washington post said, What about Clinton? He actually did something. Again I like Obama, but many people on this side of the pond were saying to me, “Really for what?”

Maybe expectations?

"And (the) Nobel Committee, I can’t divine all their intentions, but I think part of their decision-making was expectations. And I’m sure the president understands that he now has even more to live up to." — Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Yeah right, ok so now they give out these things in the hopes that things will happen.  Here is his record.

  • America is still in Iraq, and Afghanistan
  • America is still negotiating with Iran with no conclusion one way or the other
  • We are still not any further with Israel and Palestine
  • Gitmo is still open with maybe something happening
  • Health care is still not passed
  • America is running a huge budget deficit (granted not all his fault) with no end in sight

If Obama does all of this I will be first in line to give him his due. But until the facts are in concrete these are aspirations. Hey I have an aspiration I want everybody to not starve? Do I get a Noble Prize? After all if the Noble Prize folks can give this guy a prize (40 years after the fact) I think Obama’s prize could at least wait to the end of his term.

Willard Boyle and George E. Smith, researchers at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey, will each receive a quarter of the ten-million-Swedish-kronor (1.4-million-U.S. dollar) 2009 Nobel Prize in physics.

Boyle and Smith say they invented the CCD in a flash of insight on October 19, 1969, sketching out the basic design quickly during a brainstorming session.

I have never thought that much of the Noble Prizes, but after this one I know I don’t think much of it.
