I keep hearing on the argument of how inflation will come and haunt us. And how interest rates are going sky-high. And how we are doing things wrong and the economy is so bad. And if mortgage rates go above 5% then everything will break apart and people will stop getting mortgages. At leas that is what the pundits say.
My first question is why is there is such a drive toward negativity? American’s tend to be optimistic, and when you look at the consumer confidence numbers you see that average …

Stock Shock. SIRI Documentary Coming out June 10th

The folks behind the new documentary Stock Shock: The Short Selling of the American Dream asked me to share the trailer with our readers. This would be an interesting movie for any of you who at some point owned shares in Sirius (SIRI) or XM (XMSR) Satalite Radio.

We received an email from Melissa Minkalis of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). They are offering a Free DVD about avoiding foreclosure.

I did not order the DVD or know much more about it. I did quickly verify that the NFCC is a legit organization and doesn’t seem to be simply harvesting contact info, etc.

I am critical of you, but kudos that you put things in perspective.

The World’s Biggest Debtor Nations
It starts off with the US and you go OMG… But then you move on and you think, “hey they have that much debt?” And what surprised me is that Switzerland (where I live) has 268% of external debt. With the kingpin being…. I will let you look who it is.
But the fact remains that yesterday’s comments by Bill Gross were unwarranted! As I have said in the past America is not in bad …

When I saw Twitter and this social stuff I thought, huh? And then a very good old high school buddy introduced me to Face Book… Well, one thing lead to another and now I am on Twitter…
Since I am a Twitter newbie, I think my twitter is christianhgross…
What I really like about social networking and twitter is that it is a killer application for my iPod Touch.

Many folks are sceptical of the rally. Yet the market goes up and up and up. And yes we hear yet again this “light” volume argument. And of course we hear arguments that the world is going to collapse from the likes of Jim Rogers and Marc Faber. Though the Marc Faber one puzzles me because on April 8 he was bullish. When I see such flips I become very sceptical of the person unless they have some real reasons of flipping their opinion.
Anyways, will we have a pullback? Maybe, …

Wow Jim Rogers just does not give up does he?
"I’m not buying shares if that’s what you mean. Not at all," Rogers told "Squawk Box Asia."
"The bottom will probably come later this year, next year, who knows when," he added.

No Jim you are not buying stocks. What did you buy?
"I have an enormous amount of cash and I’ve been using it to buy more Japanese yen, more Swiss Francs, more agricultural products… there’s a liquidation phase going on, where everything is being liquidated. They’re selling everything in sight."

Hmm, the Yen …

I was thinking a bit about my previous blog entry on how I said I was ultra bullish. I have actually been thinking on this topic for about a week. And now I realized that this could be the perfect storm against the shorts and those waiting on the sidelines. Though I think it is worse for the shorts. Here is why.
* Oil is going up and so are the commodities and according to Fast Money it is because the US is printing money making the US valueless.
If this is …

Yes you read that right I am tentatively ultra bullish. Please remember I mean this for a 3 to 5 year time horizon.
Let me explain why I am so bullish. Did you catch how oil hit 58 USD per barrel? That makes me ultra-bullish. Yesterday I had a get together with Indians who have lived in Switzerland for about 8 years, but have relatives and friends in India. And the stories that they are telling me makes me bullish.
How does all of this tie together? Simple, commodities = wealth. …

Over a year ago I commented on how I was very worried about a trend of hedging and companies doing things that did not relate to their core business.
A reader said:
Christian…I’m sure you’re a great guy. Put your glasses back on…it will likely improve your vision.

Really?
Look at these news…
What has occurred is that one of the most profitable car makers in the world who tried to take over VW, and the CEO who tried and showed how smart he was turned out to be a …
