Typically the mutual funds are quite illiquid, so they have to start getting out of a position before its apparent to everyone that it has topped.  You can see this by a string of distribution days with higher than average volume but the stock doesnt really make any headway or closes lower than the last close.  Being aware of which way the big money is flowing is an important thing for individual investors.</description>
