Book Announcement: "The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. Two Friends Transformed Behavioral Finance." by Bud Labitan
http://www.lulu.com/content/3215722

ISBN 978-0-6152-4129-6 Paperback book $32.95 Printed: 148 pages, 6" x 9", perfect binding.

Description: "The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger" examines each of the basic steps they perform in "framing and making" an investment decision. This book is a focused look into this amazing invention within "Behavioral Finance." The genius of Buffett and Munger's parsimonious four filters process was to "capture all the important stakeholders" in a "multi-variable" equation or formula. Imagine...Products, Enduring Customers, Managers, and Margin-of-Safety... all in one mixed "qual + quant" formula. Other important ideas are embedded in each chapter. The book can be used as a supplemental textbook in a Valuation or Decision Sciences course.

Does Browne give any detailed examples on how he himself determines 'intrinsic' or 'fair market' value of companies? Or is it more or less theory?

Ha...that's the same book I have listed on my site for an amazon affiliate. I am reading the book right now and I've read the other book about the majic formula of investing. I don't really like the books arrogance, for both of them. I think they have loads of good advice though for beginners and others.

I find it hard as a pseudo value investor myself to lay out formulae for my buys. Value investors rely usually on fundamentals and the fundamentals are unique for each company. I hold 5 stocks in my fun portfolio and the reason for buying each is different. Yes, they were all undervalued but the reasons why were different.

Its like trying to describe why I like someone. I like the person because she's nice. Well, what is nice? How can I determine if another person is nice? Etc. Etc. Yeah, difficult to do.

Great post!
